Why nonviolent change?
TO methodology like paradigm of active nonviolence is based on philosophy of the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire about conscientization of the oppressed groups when they realized their situation and their role in the conflict that leads to empowerment and mobilization for social changes. Process of changes is based on humanism, respect and trust to representative of the oppressive system as a human. The subject of changes is the system of oppression and injustice, transformation of which can release both oppressed and oppressors. Social changes are understood as way for balancing power - basis for dialogue and conflict transformation.
Why dialogue?
TO considers its key principle support in restoring dialogue between people because the oppressed – are people or groups that via society, culture, politics, economics, race, sexuality, disability or in other way were denied right for dialogue or weakened in opportunity to use this right.
TO workshop corresponds to the key standards of dialogue:
Is process of conflicttransformation
Aimed at improving understanding/relations between members of the process
Can be directed to decision-making for common actions
Creates equal opportunities for participants to express themselves
Why local analysis?
TO suggest every human esthetic means to analyze its past in the context of present to invent its future and not wait for it. Therefore, people and groups with whom we work are called resource groups. These groups are source of experience, knowledge and practices, and therefore source of transformative and sustain decision based on interests of the community.
